God sent his Son into the world.
Satanically contrived resistance sought to engulf him following his birth. Herod's massacre of children was an attempt to kill Jesus.
After Jesus was anointed with the Holy Spirit the devil personally sought to turn him from the course his Father had prepared, trying to hijack him for his own evil objective.
The Sanhedrin, in the main, opposed Jesus. They had their informants. Unconcerned for truth, their strategy was to try and trap him in his words, in an attempt to have something to accuse him of. The growing animosity broke out into a determined plan to have him crucified. They simply wanted to get Jesus and condemn him.
Through it all God's sovereign purpose was being achieved.
Jesus said: "And what shall I say? 'Father, save me from this hour'? But for this purpose I have come to this hour. Father, glorify your name (John 12:27-28 ESV)."
His cross and resurrection is central to everything. It's the reason God sent his Son into the world, so that he could bring us to glory. Throughout eternity Jesus will continue to be known as the Lamb.
We are victorious over the devil because Jesus offered his blood for our salvation. Keep on following the Lamb. Worship him. Never turn back.
